Your Peruvian journey begins the moment you clear customs at Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) in Lima. Our representative will meet you at the arrivals gate to escort you to your selected partner hotel in Miraflores or Barranco, Lima’s safest and most vibrant coastal districts.
Since Lima sits at sea level, no altitude acclimatization is required today. Spend your evening taking a relaxing stroll along the cliffside Malecón overlooking the Pacific Ocean and sampling your first taste of world-renowned Peruvian gastronomy.
After breakfast, embark on a comprehensive Lima City Tour. We head into the UNESCO-protected Historic Center of Lima, standing in the majestic Plaza Mayor surrounded by colonial architecture, the Government Palace, and the Cathedral.
We explore the 17th-century San Francisco Monastery, descending into its subterranean catacombs. On the return drive through Miraflores, we view Huaca Pucllana, a massive pre-Inca adobe pyramid standing amidst the modern city. The evening is yours to enjoy Lima’s celebrated culinary scene.
At the scheduled time, we transfer you to Lima Airport for a scenic 1.5-hour domestic flight over the snow-capped Andes to Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport (CUZ) in Cusco. Our local Andean team will meet you at the gate and transfer you to your hotel in the historic center.
Because you are transitioning to an elevation of 11,152 ft (3,400 m), this afternoon is strictly reserved for rest. Stay hydrated with bottled water, drink traditional Coca tea, and eat light meals. In the late afternoon, take a slow walk around the Plaza de Armas.
Now acclimatized, we begin our small-group half-day Cusco City Tour. We start in the city center at Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun), the spiritual epicenter of the Inca Empire whose polished stone walls were once covered in solid gold leaf.
We then drive up to the surrounding hills to explore Sacsayhuaman, standing next to limestone boulders weighing over 100 tons fitted seamlessly without mortar. We also visit the ceremonial labyrinth of Qenqo, the military outpost of Puca Pucara, and the water temple of Tambomachay. Return to your hotel by midday for a free afternoon.
We depart Cusco at 8:00 AM, descending into the breathtaking Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our first stop is Pisac, exploring its extensive terraced agricultural ruins perched on mountain ridges, followed by time at the vibrant Pisac Artisan Market.
After a local buffet lunch in Urubamba (included), we explore the monumental fortress of Ollantaytambo, climbing the massive terraces where Incas fought Spanish forces. Later, board your scenic train to Aguas Calientes (schedules depend on availability upon booking), watching the landscape shift into a lush cloud forest for your overnight stay.
We wake up early to board the Consettur bus up the winding Hiram Bingham road to the sanctuary gates. Your expert local guide will lead a comprehensive 2 to 2.5-hour tour through the citadel, explaining the stone quarries, Temples, and Intihuatana.

Option B: Humantay Lake Trek. Glacier hike departing at 4:30 AM to Soraypampa. Hike up to 13,779 ft (4,200 m) to reach the turquoise glacial lake beneath Mount Salkantay. Includes breakfast, lunch, oxygen tanks, and hiking poles. Return to Cusco around 5:00 PM.
Option C: Maras Salt Mines & Moray (Half-Day). A lower-impact option departing at 8:00 AM. Explore the circular agricultural terraces of Moray and the ancient salt evaporating pans of Maras. Return to Cusco by 2:00 PM for a free afternoon.

Having early days dedicated to rest and light walking in Cusco is crucial. Keep physical exertion low upon arrival, drink plenty of water, and avoid heavy meals or alcohol.
Mountain Microclimates & Packing: Lima is humid and coastal, while Cusco and high treks require thermal layers. Pack warm layers, a waterproof jacket, comfortable walking/hiking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and DEET insect repellent.
Train Luggage Rules: Trains to Aguas Calientes restrict carry-on luggage to a maximum of 5kg / 11 lbs per passenger. Main luggage will be stored safely at your Cusco hotel during your overnight stay in Aguas Calientes.
