Complete Itinerary
07:30 AM or 01:00 PM (depending on your selected schedule)
The tour begins with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. After meeting your guide, we set off in a comfortable vehicle towards the Sacred Valley. As we drive, your guide will share fascinating insights about the area’s history, culture, and geography.
Our first stop is Moray, an extraordinary archaeological site believed to have been an agricultural laboratory during the Inca Empire. The circular terraces, which descend into the earth like a giant amphitheater, are thought to have been used to experiment with crops and create microclimates. Your guide will explain the advanced agricultural techniques of the Incas and their significance in sustaining the empire. Take your time to explore and marvel at this engineering wonder.
Next, we pass through the colorful town of Maras. Known for its colonial-era architecture and quiet charm, Maras offers a glimpse into traditional Andean life. Although we don’t stop for long, your guide will provide an overview of the town’s history and its importance in the region.
The tour continues to the stunning Salineras de Maras, a vast network of over 3,000 salt evaporation ponds cascading down a hillside. These salt mines have been in operation since pre-Inca times, and the traditional methods of harvesting salt are still used today. Your guide will explain the history and process behind the salt extraction, and you’ll have the opportunity to purchase high-quality salt and other artisanal products directly from the local producers.
After visiting the Salineras, we head back to Cusco, arriving at your hotel or a central drop-off location. This short but enriching tour leaves you with a deep appreciation for the ingenuity of the Incas and the enduring traditions of the Andean people.
