Upon landing at Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport (Cusco), our local team will warmly welcome you. We handle your luggage and drive you directly to your selected partner hotel in the historic center.
Because you are starting your journey at 11,152 ft (3,400 m), today is exclusively designated for resting. Hydrate constantly with bottled water, drink traditional Coca tea, and eat light meals to allow your body to adjust safely to the elevation. Later in the afternoon, step out for a relaxed, independent walk around the picturesque Plaza de Armas to watch the sunset illuminate the Spanish colonial cathedrals built directly over original Inca foundations.
Dive straight into Inca history after breakfast. We join our small group and start at the Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun), the former golden heart of the empire, which now serves as the foundation for the colonial Santo Domingo convent.
Next, we head into the upper hills to the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, where you will marvel at limestone blocks weighing dozens of tons, fitted together seamlessly without mortar. We will also visit the ancient shrines of Qenqo, Puca Pucara, and the water temple of Tambomachay before returning you to town by midday. You have a free afternoon to explore Cusco’s renowned culinary scene or shop for fine alpaca textiles.
Your valley expedition begins with a morning drive to the dramatic hillside terraces of Pisac and its bustling, colorful artisan market where local weavers and craftsmen sell their work.
After enjoying an Andean buffet lunch in Urubamba (included), we explore the living Inca town of Ollantaytambo, ascending the massive sun terraces where the Incas repelled Spanish forces. From this historic station, you will board the afternoon scenic train, winding through the Urubamba gorge until you reach the cloud forest town of Aguas Calientes for your overnight stay (train departure times depend on availability upon booking).
We take an early Consettur bus up the winding mountain road to the sanctuary gates. Your licensed guide will explain the astronomical and architectural mysteries of the Temples, Intihuatana, and urban sectors during a comprehensive 2 to 2.5-hour tour.
Note: Specific entry circuits (Circuit 1, 2, or 3) and entry time slots depend strictly on official government availability at the exact time of reservation. Afterwards, we take the bus back to town for lunch before boarding our return train to the Sacred Valley, where your driver will be waiting to transfer you comfortably back to your Cusco hotel.
Today, we trade the Inca capital for the vast, sweeping plains of the Altiplano. Boarding a comfortable, well-equipped tourist bus, we embark on the famous Route of the Sun.
This scenic corridor includes guided stops at the 16th-century church of Andahuaylillas (famous for its vivid gold-leaf murals), the towering Inca temple of Wiracocha at Raqchi, and the spectacular La Raya Pass, the highest point of the journey at 14,222 ft (4,335 m). Following a buffet lunch en route, we arrive in Puno by late afternoon, where our team will transfer you to your lakeside hotel.
Wake up to views of the highest navigable lake on Earth. We head to the port and board a motorboat to visit the legendary Uros Floating Islands, constructed entirely from buoyant totora reeds by indigenous families who live upon them.
Next, we navigate the deep blue waters to Taquile Island, a community globally renowned for its male master weavers and Mediterranean-like terraced hillsides. After enjoying a lunch of fresh lake trout (included), we sail back to Puno for your final night.

Machu Picchu Circuits & Availability: Per Peruvian Ministry of Culture regulations, specific entry circuits (Circuit 1, 2, or 3) and time slots depend entirely on official government availability at the time of reservation. We strongly recommend booking as far in advance as possible (ideally 3 to 4 months) to secure the best available route.
Train Schedules & Hotel Availability: Train departure times (PeruRail or IncaRail) and hotel reservations are subject to availability upon booking confirmation. If any listed partner hotel is fully booked, an equivalent hotel within the same category will be assigned.
Departure Airport Note (Juliaca – JUL): Day 7 departure is from Inca Manco Cápac International Airport in Juliaca (JUL), located approximately 1 hour from Puno. Ensure your domestic flight is booked out of Juliaca, not Cusco.
Altitude Strategy (Cusco to Lake Titicaca): Cusco sits at 11,152 ft (3,400 m), La Raya Pass reaches 14,222 ft (4,335 m), and Lake Titicaca is at 12,500 ft (3,812 m). The gradual progression helps acclimatization. Drink water, take slow walks, and consider coca tea.
