Perfect for travelers seeking a moderately challenging hike with breathtaking rewards, this experience is a must for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone wanting to feel the power of the Andes.
Itinerary: One-Day Hike to Humantay Lake
Departure times: Group tours depart around 4:00 AM, while private tours leave around 6:00 AM from your hotel in Cusco.
We begin the journey with an early morning pick-up and head north through the scenic Mollepata Valley. Upon arrival at the trailhead (Soraypampa), we’ll enjoy a local breakfast before starting the hike.
The trek to Humantay Lake takes around 1.5 to 2 hours uphill, depending on your pace. The trail gradually climbs to over 4,200 meters (13,800 ft), surrounded by snow-capped mountains and wild landscapes.
At the top, you’ll be rewarded with a stunning view of Humantay’s turquoise waters, framed by the mighty Salkantay glacier. Enjoy free time to explore, take photos, and soak in the natural energy.
After the visit, we return to the base and enjoy a traditional Andean lunch before heading back to Cusco, arriving in the late afternoon.
