Detailed Half Day Cusco City Tour Itinerary

Your half-day exploration begins with pick-up from your Cusco hotel (you can select either a morning departure around 8:00 AM or an afternoon departure around 1:00 PM). Joining your licensed guide and small group, we start at the golden center of the Inca world: the Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun).
During the Inca Empire, Qoricancha was the most sacred religious complex, where exterior walls were covered in thick plates of solid gold leaf and interior gardens featured life-sized gold and silver statues. Following the Spanish conquest, the Santo Domingo Convent was built directly over its finely fitted ashlar stonework. Here, your guide decodes the incredible mortarless stone joinery that has survived severe earthquakes over centuries, contrasting Incan precision with colonial architecture.
From the city center, we board our tourist transport for a short drive into the northern hills overlooking Cusco to reach Sacsayhuaman. This monumental site features giant zig-zagging megalithic walls built from limestone boulders weighing up to 128 tons. Standing beneath these giant blocks, fitted together so tightly that a sheet of paper cannot pass between them, your guide explains the astronomical, ceremonial, and defensive engineering behind the structure.
