Day 01: Welcome to the Capital of the Incas

Consult your primary doctor regarding altitude sickness medication (like Diamox) before traveling to Peru.

Packing & Microclimates: The weather in the Andes changes rapidly and without warning. Cusco can be freezing at night, while Machu Picchu (located in the cloud forest) is humid, warm, and highly prone to sudden rain. Layering is the only strategy that works. Always carry a high-quality waterproof jacket or poncho, strong sunscreen, and DEET-based insect repellent.
